Reinvented as “America’s Possibility Champion”, Lisa L. Howze is the principal speaker and trainer of Speaking Life Principles, Inc., a motivation, training, and development company, established in May 2007. Whether the subject is leadership, personal development, student development, time management, or financial empowerment, the company’s motto is “We Live What We Speak.”
A native Detroiter, Lisa graduated from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in 1995. Soon after, she became a certified public accountant providing audit assurance and business advisory services at Arthur Andersen LLP in Detroit. Lisa later provided nearly seven years of dedicated service at a Fortune 500 leading, energy company. During that time, she obtained the degree Master of Science in Finance from Walsh College, graduating in 2004.
In addition to her corporate and academic pursuits, Lisa served as president of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) – Detroit Chapter for four years. Lisa is a lifetime member of NABA and serves on the national financial literacy committee. In June 2007, Lisa became NABA’s 2007 “Walking the Road Less Traveled” national award recipient. The award recognized her ability to leverage an accounting background as a springboard to launch a new career in public speaking and training. After hearing Lisa deliver one of her highly-energetic and thought-provoking presentations, participants feel like they too can ‘Do the unthinkable and live the impossible!’
Lisa has addressed a variety of professional, business and student organizations in connection with careers in accounting and finance. Clients in related fields include AXA Advisors LLC, Deloitte, Gregory Terrell and Company, Plante & Moran PLLC, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and Wayne County Legislative Office of the Auditor General. In addition, Lisa has provided workshop presentations to or on behalf of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Bank of the West, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, International Detroit Black Expo, Inc., Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Black Accountants, Inc., National Association of Women Business Owners, and Seton Hill University’s E-Magnify, women’s business center.
In the rare event that she is not traveling the country inspiring people, Lisa enjoys reading, spending time with her nieces and nephews, visiting day spas at resort locations, and listening to her favorite musical artists.
